Because of the Times?

IS THIS THE SAME BAND? I think not

Ok...so I figured I'd say something on here because this is ridiculous.

Anyone who knows Kings of Leon knows how amazing aha shake heartbreak is. This album was made in 2004...when no one gave a shit about 4 country boys playing rock music.
Skip ahead to 2009 - Only by the Night is a top seller, but where are all those catchy riffs found in Aha and Youth and Young Manhood? I checked out the album, and found it was a set back to KoL's original thrash and 'stache. Even their appearance has cleaned up exceptionally...they look like U2 junior (maybe they can get action figures soon - that'd be cool...more money to people who don't need it anymore). It's a far cry from the rags, hair, and general body funk - but is it a gain or loss?
Looking at the photo above (Left) I wonder - did they all pick the same colour clothes and then go into the washroom to try it on together? Definitely some Hollywood bullshit folks.
Maybe not if you're part of those who just started enjoying Kings of Leon this year, and enjoy hearing "Sex on Fire" in a radio friendly environment like the Air Canada Centre, which will probably charge over 60 dollars for the upcoming concert in April.

BUT - if you enjoyed Kings of Leon from the beginning you now have to pay 2 or 3 times as much...and fuck buying a 40 dollar t-shirt!

After hearing their mediocre last record called "Because of the Times"....I've realised it certainly is...

A Solution to a Recession

Most people (excluding those that lack basic motor skills) will know the doom and gloom that is heard daily about a recession. I myself am a business student with a decent knowledge of the market and the role of its actors.

I first heard talks of recession about a year and a half ago through my father. He explained to me that the yield curve between 2 and 10 year gov't bonds was inverted (in June 08), which is - for lack of a better word - FUCKED. Shortly after in late summer European banks (can't recall which) were held up with some of their funds, the closest offer came to around 50 cents on the original dollar paid. Then in the following September/October the US housing market crashed and left many without homes. Because of this, all major banks - who were providing inadequate loans - were left out to dry (when unable to pay their loans, homeowners would mail their keys to the banks). Eventually, most major NA Banks were in a liquidity crisis, with Lehman Brothers filing for bankruptcy. As time dragged on this liquidity issue worsened when auto companies couldn't get large enough loans to cover the high overhead of their business.

Looking ahead to now, it is clear we are in a recession. But do we have to act like its the end of the world? Fuck no! In fact, a million more Canadians have jobs than this time last year. If you have read the above paragraph you will understand that the flow of money isnt coming FAST enough, so we should be spending MORE.

Anyways, for some reason its the taxpayers responsibility to throw good money at bad money. It may just be me that thinks this, but isn't the whole concept of capitalism to gain and lose money? If a small business doesn't do well its competitors succeed and they end their business. Is that not the folly of capitalism? Value is lost and won, people achieve and fail...its just how it works.

Now on the news all you hear is stimulus this and stimulus that. Well I say fuck you Ford, GM, and Chrysler. What kind of fucking conclusion does one come to in which they say "I think we should give these guys more money." Because we all know money just grows on trees. In fact, we should all get a stimulus while we're at it. Or even better, I need a fucking car - give them the money and the taxpayers should get a fleet of Ford's, Gm's, and Chrysler's (even still...who in the FUCK wants to drive a chrysler?).

And what do we get for this stimulus? Obama's platform calls for change, but the Autoworker's Union is willing to do anything but. Does it bother anyone that someone is getting paid around $40 an hour to work on an assembly line? FOR FUCK'S SAKE we have the technology now to have it be completely automated. Yet some adults, who have clearly done nothing to better their lives, make their living by being a human bitch (apologies if you work there, but you should probably be wearing a helmet at all times if you do this for a living - you're definitely socially and mentally retarded).

In my humble opinion offshore auto companies have been making a better product for years. In fact, for each US car sale around $1000 goes to the pensions of retired auto workers - compared to about a quarter of that for offshore companies like Toyota and Honda. Should we pay people who may or may not be capable of whiping their own ass 40 dollars an hour? FUCK NO.

Get a real skill and possibly a real high school diploma, and then you won't have to worry about losing your job.

In times of great need like now, our government should control its monetary policy to ensure that a given dollar isn't devalued with inflation (the more money you make the less each dollar is worth). I propose that we give the money to the Big 3 auto companies in exchange for their older models. Then instead of bailing out those with homes in foreclosure (We should get an MRI or cat scan for these people. I'm not sure if we have a lot of cell phone related tumours or what, but they fucking signed a mortgage that they were incapable of paying), we can give them a car they can sell or keep!

But that's just me. Keep in mind I have no experience in domestic and foreign policy (cough most politicians cough).
